What did I open today? - part II

Matchbox VW Karmann Ghia Convertible - Purple

What did I open today?

I experienced high blood pressure last Sunday night right after our 1st DCPH Swap Meet for this year 2010. After consulting with my doctor last Monday night, he ordered me to rest for a couple of days while I wait for my blood test and urinalysis result which was taken early this morning.

Viewing the details of my cars and photo shooting them helps me relax and relieve stress. Now I have all day to open and take photos of some of my old and new pieces! hehehe...

What did I open today?

I got this from my friend Toots, a fellow DCPH member last swap meet. Fortunately he had an extra piece for me. I don't know why this is kinda hard to find at our local toy stores. I'm not even sure if this was already released locally or if he got this from a DCPH member in the USA. I just got to have one right away. Thanks for the help Toots!
=)

I really like the classic casting/curves of this Ice Cream Truck more than that of the HotWheels casting....or maybe because of it's resemblance of the Transformers 2 Movie Ice Cream Truck?

What did I get from the Nov 29 DCPH Pre-Xmas Swap Meet?

We had our last DCPH swap meet for 2009 last Sunday, Nov. 29. It was held again at Club Taboo, Ortigas Home Depot.

More than 200 registered members and guests attended the 5hr. event. Lot's of diecast cars were sold and traded during the meet but I was so fortunate to receive a few RAOKs (Random Act of Kindness or free items) from DCPH friends.

Here are photos of my RAOKs in no particular order:

Matchbox Volkswagen T2 Bus - from Noel/Noypi

Tomica Toyota MR-2 - from Mike/JDMike

Tomica Isuzu Elf Truck - Family Mart - from Jovy/MrHummerAddict

Thanks to all for the great items!

What did I open today?

Hi guys! It's been almost a month since my last post here, I've been busy with work and just found the time to open a few items this morning.

Most of you know that I started to concentrate on collecting Tomica this year but a few new releases of Matchbox were very hard to resist.
Here are some that I got during the past weeks:

'68 Toyota Land Cruiser

'64 Austin Mini Cooper S

'08 Toyota Prius

Mercedes Benz SLR Mclaren

I'll try to make a comparative post between the castings of the Tomica and Matchbox Toyota Land Cruisers soon.

Thanks for dropping by. =)

What did I open today?

Early this year, I said that I would concentrate on Tomica but when I saw this, I just couldn't resist the temptation. Wait, I think I'm on a roll with Matchboxes?! It's my 3rd Matchbox featured in my "What did I open today?" posts. Haha!

Matchbox Austin Mini Van

Anyway, going back to the Austin Mini Van, I love the color and body shape of this model. The wheels and the rims looks great. Now I can say that Matchbox has improved its lineup for this year with the creation of this model.

I'm looking forward for more new releases by Matchbox.

Matchbox VW Karmann Ghia Convertible

This was a birthday raok (Random Act of Kindness) from Atty. Elmer Guerzon, a fellow DCPH member. I was having a hard time looking for one at the local toy shops in Manila, he was lucky to spot one when he dropped-by a mall in Pampanga (about an hour drive from Manila).

I believe this was the first time Matchbox produced this model. The sexy curves compliments the details and color of this convertible.

Another great addition to my Karmann Ghia collection.
Thanks Elmer! =)

What did I open today?

Most collectors encounter this problem with their collections specially with the carded, blistered packs and hard to find ones.....do they open it or not? So some buy at least 3 pieces of the same kind - 1 for trade, 1 for opening and 1 to keep MoC (Mint on Card). I used to belong to their group but now I only buy 1 piece and prefer to set them loose but I also keep some items MoC for future opening, trade or simply for easier storage purposes.

In November 9, 2005, I started a thread at DCPH with the topic of - What did you open today? It's almost 4 yrs now and it has 1506 replies and was viewed for 24881 times. As far as I know, it's one of the longest threads in our forum.

Now I'd like to start one here with my latest piece by Matchbox. It's nothing special and just a regular item but I really like the details and the working features of this truck.
